Vagner Cruz, also known worldwide as Boca, began his Jiu-Jitsu career when he was 14 years old under Professor Luiz Barboza from Gracie Barra Rio de Janeiro.

When he was 18 years old, still a blue belt, he opened his first gym, in João Pessoa-PB-Brazil. At that time, there were only 7 blue belts in the entire state. At 20 years old, he had a record of 5 wins and 2 losses in Vale Tudo (MMA in Brazil) and earned several titles in BJJ in the Brazilian northeast.

 

In 2003 he joined TT Team of Brazil where he earned his black belt just one year later under Professors Fernando Terere and Eduardo Telles. In 2007 he began his international career, dividing his time between his academy in Brazil and academies in Poland, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Bosnia and Chile. Over his 28 year career, he has had approximately 80 of his students earn their black belts, and had the opportunity to give more than 200 seminars throughout Europe, South America and the USA.

For several consecutive years Boca Team placed first in the Paraíba Championships. In addition to all of the aforementioned accomplishments, Boca was black belt champion in the following events: Nordeste Open (the biggest event from Brazilian Northeast), Amsterdam Open (Netherlands), Holland Gi Challenger (Holland), Polish League Championships (Poland), European Vice Champion (Portugal), Vice World Gi Champion (Las Vegas, Nevada) and World Championships No Gi (Dallas, Texas).

With all his growth and accomplishments, Vagner Boca has been professor to students who continue to practice and teach Jiu-Jitsu in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, USA, Canada and Chile.
